This week we welcomed Roman back to stay, in the Sprout room! Everyone greeted him with open arms.
Starting a new month, I introduced ‘rabbit’ as our animal. Within our L&N centres, students worked on their cottontail rabbit identification sheets, referencing our newest poster and ensuring their colouring was similar. We learned that the Cottontail Rabbit is most common to our area and read about a variety of other rabbits. A favourite were the giant and pygmy rabbits due to their extreme sizing. 😆
Students continue to review their vowels and spelling words within L&N centres, as well as place value and the chakras. We have been learning about time as well, so I have had the students review days of the week and months of the year by ordering them and reading their names.
Courtney R. taught us about the sacral chakra this week. The affirmation is: I am creative.🍊
The sun came out for our Tuesday Trek and we made our way down to the creek. We noticed minnows and algae in the sunlight. We also collected more sticks as we continue to create a tipi to connect our “tipi pole teachings” in morning circle.
During Magic Centres (open centre time) the Sprouts created a restaurant. I supported them in creating a menu this week. They included main dishes, drinks, and kids meals. They plan to add desserts next week as well. We will be incorporating lots (more) literacy and math into this fun inquiry.
On this icy Well-Being Wednesday, Oakley gave us some drum healing which was followed by a short meditation about the “Wishing Tree”. Students shared their visualizations afterwards. They also chose and held onto crystals during, noting the name of their crystal and which chakra it could support.
It will be Roman’s turn for Mystery Bag, next week.
