Seedlings & Saplings CORE May 5-7

This week began business immersion, with conversations around intention, thinking outside the box, goal setting and establishing action plans that are in alignment with their goals. All students assessed their last sale inventory sheets, cross referenced the stock they have left, and student with new concepts and products added them to their inventory sheet. This time our focus was on the value of sales that are possible for students. Many students are connecting with what is possible in their businesses and now understanding what is possible for them.

Students learned more about advertising this week as we reviewed our professional writing guidelines. Students broke out into three groups to create different forms of advertising. Kassidy, Ethan and Ellie created a hilariously short video that Courtney has shared on social media already, while Khloe, Corbin and Mason created countdown advertising. Hazel, Zoë, Stella and Isla created posters for share the magic day.

We said hello once again to Courtney Roddis while she shared about the Third Eye Chakra with students. The focus was on visualization and manifestation.

In language, our focus was on inventory and journal writing...with students writing about a super power they would like to have and why.

Our math skills were put to work in determining the values of stock in businesses and goal setting, as all students set financial goals for this sale.

Fairy Herb stories are nearly completed as students have been reading them together in small groups. A group project to share learning will happen after share the magic day is complete.

Sign ups began for the last of the badge work presentations for students for this school year. The end of May will see all badge work completed for this year.

We checked on our greenhouse and found that all of the corn we planted last week was up, and all of the kidney beans sprouted as well. We began planting the corn strategically in the garden to protect climbing plants from the winds that whip through the area. Students identifyied and pulled out plants that volunteered for us as well. Our potatoes and peas are also up in the garden! We will be planting another plot of potatoes next week, installing a trellis for spaghetti squash that we will train to climb so they don't take over the front yard. Our bean seedlings will stay in the greenhouse a little longer, as they are planted once the risk of frost is gone.

Free time and emotional regulation time was filled up with dress up and creativity this week, as students discovered the beginnings of our tickle trunk. Lots of fun was created there.

The rest of our time was spent completing badge requirements and working toward business goals.
