This week was FULL of badge work presentations and completion of end of year tasks. We tallied up all student's presentations to date and made a class chart to identify where we could expand our learning and what was left to complete for students who weren't sure. Students learned that there will be no awards presented this year, and that their learning is a direct reflection of their passions, rather than pushing for a prize. This allows the satisfaction of completing their badges to be more internal than external, which is vital for independent learning.
As a class, we decided to add two additional presentation days next week so everyone can achieve their badge goals.

On Monday, students continued their reading group stories (Herb Fairies), then Seedlings continued working on journal entries in reflection to their learning in the business program this year, while Saplings worked on their simple essays. Free time was full of badge completion and checking on important things around the classroom. The classroom got an end of year facelift over the weekend, so everything seemed new and Shiney to they students again, which brings interests back to the front of their minds.
This week we had our last visit from Courtney Roddis to share about chakras. Students created their Chakra bracelets to remind them of their learning and everyone had big hugs for Courtney in thanks for time spent sharing with them.
The remainder of our week was spent learning from students:
Zoë - presented 8 posters!!! Great work Zoë!
Kassidy - created an escape room for students to learn about sea turtles that was an absolute blast. Kassidy is our youngest student to complete level 3 (teaching) badges.
Isla - presented a poster about electric blue obsidian! Great job Isla!
Khloe - presented teaching lessons on the brain and liver this week! Great job Khloe!!
Kassidy - presented about Dolphins and Penguins as well, to complete her level 3 badge for animal magic.
Hazel - presented lessons on landscapes and land masses for their science level 3 badge, Mangroves and Poppies for their plant level 3 badge, and fox to complete their animal level 3 badge. Hazel has been working hard too!
Corbin presented a food magic lesson and taught everyone how to make burgers from scratch! He is planning for his future in lesson creation.
Ethan - presented his last animal magic poster to earn his animal level 1 badge too!
