We started our week with learning around Remembrance Day, and made space to honour our ancestors in Morning Circle. The Sprouts chose to take a moment of silence at 11 AM, after we had created our Poppies.
Our Number Magic Centres involved continued number practice for our junior Sprouts and extended learning about odd and even numbers for the seniors. We also explored our knowledge around coins and their amounts, making space for ‘Canada in my Pocket,’ a fun learning song that the students enjoy. Letter Magic incorporated letter sounds/recognition, vowel pairs, journal writing, & Grey Wolf identification.
We discussed what it means to have a growth mindset this week, after reading ‘The Magical Yet’. This story shared the importance of believing in yourself, trying new/hard/uncomfortable things, and not giving up. By using the ‘magical yet’ you can transform your thinking (ie. “I can’t do this.” vs “I can’t do this YET.”)
The Sprouts created multiple items for our sale as we continue to get prepared for the 27th. Next week we will make our final products and create signs for our table.
It will be Preston’s turn for mystery bag on Monday.
