It was a beautiful week back after our March break! Our guest teacher Courtney Roddis has returned TSOM for the next 8 weeks. She started this past Monday and will be here each Monday until the end of May. Courtney is a certified Reiki Practitioner who specializes in Energetic Education. She joined us last year to teach our students about the chakras and meditation and is expanding on those lessons this year. She loves her connection to TSOM and has already commented on how aware and connected our students are. We look forward to her presence over the next 2 months! 😊
We observed the next step in the Maple Syrup process this week: boiling it down. Students were able to witness the evaporation and its effect on capacity. We noted the change in capacity each day and learned what evaporation means and looks like, with a simple experiment (see photos). The process will be fully complete by Monday. That’s when the taste testing will happen. 😋
Within our Letter & Number Magic centres, students explored capacity using a variety of containers and manipulatives. They also began exploring and naming our organs with some puzzles. At this centre each student noted where the root chakra was located and which organs were closest to it; as we begin to explore the physical and energetic body connections.
We completed our first homemade cleaner project this week by straining our mixture. The Sprouts were so excited to use the cleaner that everyone wanted to have the job of table wiper this week. 😂 We look forward to making more and experimenting with different ingredients.
After our Apple Land trip in the Fall, we saved some seeds with hopes of them sprouting for us. After 5 months in the fridge, the seeds sprouted! Just in time for Spring. We planted the apple sprouts this week and each Sprout took home a sprout of their own today. We also have some in the classroom to eventually plant in our garden.
Today was the most gorgeous day to celebrate the Spring Equinox - which we did! Starting the day with our drum circle, we called in the new season with song and conversation about possibilities. This afternoon we celebrating our March birthdays (myself, Mason & Preston) with the yummiest and most creative cookies. Thanks cookie crew!
The Sprouts worked as a team to build a new playhouse during Magic Centres, as this is how they chose to evolve our Imagination Station. They did a great job and felt much pride.
It will be Preston’s turn for Mystery Bag on Monday.
