We wrapped up our centres from January this week and also finished our Pine Fairy book. We reviewed the uses for pine medicine and had fun uncovering the riddle in our book, which each of the Herb Fairy stories have. The students have been illustrating different animal tracks in their portfolios over the last two weeks, so we made some salt dough today and imprinted some of our favourite tracks within it. Those will be coming home on Monday. We made one for students who were away as well.

Math and Reading groups continue to flow with all students excited to have their turn to participate. Depending on the group, we are working on different counting principles and base ten comprehension. This is the foundation for all numeracy operations. Other math talks involved 3D shapes and symmetry this week. I walked the group through a symmetrical snowflake drawing lesson and challenged them to glitter glue their design with symmetrical colours.

On Music Monday I pulled out some coloured scarves to incorporate more movement into our lesson. Some students took turns playing their drum as others danced around the room. Tuesday trek took us into the ‘tree climbing forest’ where the kids found a hill to slide down and made routines. Badge work presentations took place today as students continue to work toward their goals.

It will be Kennley’s turn for mystery bag on Monday.
