This week we flowed back into Letter & Number Magic Centres, as well as Math Groups. I’ve been working with the students in small groups on their understanding of place value as it is the basis of all operations. Each group is working at a different level and taking a lot from the lessons.
Within our centres, students expanded this knowledge through number representation in a tangible or written form. Journal writing continues to evolve as some students work on sentence structure and others on letter formation.
We headed further into the park during our Tuesday Trek to hang out by the creek. The students loved exploring this spot with all the snow around and found a fun tree to hangout in. Many experimented with throwing snow balls into the creek and seeing how fast they would flow depending on their size and weight.
Today was Barrett’s turn to make his Food Magic project! He chose to bake ‘Evergreen Sugar Cookies’ as he was inspired by our learnings about Pine, last month. He flavoured the icing with some evergreen (cedar) tea and coloured it green using a pinch of powdered chlorella. He had a blast and everyone enjoyed the treat! It was Kennley’s official birthday today which made the timing quite perfect. 🎉 Great work, Barrett!
Jude and Kennley presented Badge Work this week, and we also made Ooblek!
It will be Connor’s turn for Mystery Bag on Monday.
