This week in business immersion, we continued starting our days off with a blend of drinking water, brain gym movements, crystal meditations and journaling to help us balance out all the business we do for the remainder of the day. The remainder of our mornings were filled with short advertising lessons to help students identify where and what advertising is and how it shows up in our daily lives, as well as Business Jeopardy...which is quickly becoming the favourite game of all the games we play. With math, language and business education structured into the game, students started off this week without utilizing their business resources to check their answers and relied on memory. Growth in recall and understanding was evident! Through this game we are also exploring word problems. Students are learning how to organize the information and which words direct them to different operations.
Students had the opportunity to meet Ana, one of our supply teachers, when she came in for an orientation of the space and to meet the students. Ana will be in the classroom in my place on Monday and everyone is looking forward to getting to know her more!
Students completed their business contracts this week, setting goals for when they would "pay back" the money that paid for their business materials to create with. Our business program is supporting students through what occurs in businesses normally: pivoting, calculating, trying new things, getting creative around problem solving, and managing how we feel about change, especially when the process we imagine doesn't happen as we expect it to. Students are focusing on daily goals to create their "stock" for their businesses so when Share The Magic day comes they are prepared to reach their goals.
Pictures were of products this week! I will be adding them to the school store with the goal of the store being ready to rock for Tuesday when the posters and other advertisements students have made start coming home. This week students created 3 canva ads for social media, a pop up for the homepage on the school website AND two posters that will head home with students on Tuesday, complete with QR codes that take people to our online store. Everyone now has a logo too!
If you have a moment, visit our website www.theschoolofmagic.org and wait the 2-3 seconds on the homepage for the advertisement that Ethan and Mila created to pop up to share with visitors about share the magic day!!
Create a magical weekend and I will see everyone again on Tuesday <3
