This week was all about preparation and seeking balance amidst all the preparations.

I would like to thank all parents for their contributions to our feast! Because of all of you, the students were able to create exactly what they had planned.

Tuesday was a day in thawing what we stashed in the freezer from our Food Magic lessons last week, and preparing what we could so Feast Day would be smoother sailing. As a result, everyone pitched in to peel 90% of the potatoes that we grew in our garden!! Some of those potatoes grew to the size of two adult hands!!! We have quite a few small ones left for a creative potato roast and for planting in the spring.... And there may be some potatoes that were left in the garden too....we will need to wait for the spring to find out.A few students worked together to chop celery and onion for our stuffing as well.

Seedlings enjoyed their spelling test Tuesday (Saplings elected to have theirs last Wednesday) and everyone did quite well. Language centers helped us remain balanced, and our afternoon was filled with food.

Wednesday arrived with Food Magic for the day. Mason made the Caesar salad, while Hazel and Stella made the croutons for the salad. While the potatoes were boiling, Ethan put all the organic corn in a big pot for cooking. Isla, Mila and Khloe cut the watermelon, and the remaining students focused on prepping the fruit for the fruit salad.

I prepared the turkey breast and everything was ready for a noon serving of lunch, right on schedule. In fact, the students worked so diligently, that they made space for an extra 75 minutes of language and math time. Some students played the Prime Climb (math game) while others played school with their dragons.

The feast was delicious and I am so proud to report that we were able to send 7 meals for 4 home with students who wanted them. They were excited to eat it up and provide a break for the dinner parent at home <3. As a result, we had nothing left over after our feast and clean up was simple thanks to the amazing dishwasher in the kitchen.

After a prolonged play at the park, students returned to tidy up the classroom and play end of day games until home time.

Excellent week overall with loads of cooking success!
