This week began with Ana supporting the classroom in my absence and the feedback from students was fantastic!! Thank you Ana for your support!!
This week we sent home posters with our school store QR code, and I will have business products uploaded later this evening for online ordering fun! If parents could put these posters up in their spaces of business or another area where there is people traffic, that would be super helpful.
We finished up the last round of Business Jeopardy this week, with a list of students that get to receive funds!! They are very excites about that, and I plan to have these dollars for those students who were on first place teams available for Share The Magic Day.
We continued our learning around calculating profits with our A+B=C equation. Most students can understand now that A represents materials, B represents profits, and C represents income. Saplings learned how to move an equation around to solve for an unknown, and all students are graciously and patiently working through the word problems I created for them. I am VERY PROUD of student progress this round.
Our afternoons have been FILLED TO THE BRIM with creation...and everyone is excited to package their offerings for sale and complete their inventory sheets to support ease in the process next Wednesday.
Our Cookie crew (Khloe and Mason) made a double chocolate cookie recipe from scratch and memory (nothing was written and I relayed instructions verbally). They were delicious too!! Well done Cookie Crew!!!
All students brought home a document for parents to sign today, which represents a promise to abide by their newfound understanding that they money they generate within their businesses on Share The Magic day belongs first to their business. Everyone has agreed NOT TO SPEND any business dollars until we after we determine our profits together the week after share the magic day. If parents could please sign this agreement, this indicates your understanding and support. The students get to be CLEAN in their business dealings, and this means delaying the gratification of receiving their earnings to a time when they have support in class to understand how much actually belongs to them.
I appreciate your cooperation and must say that so far this has been the most successful business immersion experience.
Special mention to Zoë Ribera for persevering in her business when things were not working out the way she planned. We were able to sit down together and Zoë was very teachable and as a result learned a new way to create with clay so the finished product never breaks! Hard work and determination have paid off AND it is these kinds of lessons that I am certain will leave a lasting impression for this young entrepreneur.
Make a fantastic weekend for your families!!
