Happy new year!!

This part of the school year is off to a fantastic start with student back into language and math centers and goal setting for earning their badges too!

Language centers began with a few new resources to support our Seedling friends. Seedlings enjoyed tracing races, buddy reading, spelling worksheets and their spelling lists for this week, while Saplings created their own spelling lists in small groups, typed them out for typing practice, enjoyed silent reading and began working through exercises on contractions. These centers will continue in this manner with slight changes as students progress in their learning.

Language assessments began this week for Seedlings as well. Keep your eyes peeled for a message from me regarding homework items for additional language supports, which were sent home this week with some students.

Math centers have been a hit with Saplings moving through review addition, subtraction, multiplication and division of some very large numbers, and chilling with some Prime Climb play. Seedlings dove into subitizing, cribbage, group dice games and a short intro to multiplication through The Grapes of Math. Unfortunately I was too engaged with students for photos.

Badge work has commenced with many students identifying their goals and setting BIG ones. We added Music Magic to our badge list and some students have chosen to learn songs on piano, guitar and others have elected to write their own. Everyone is working at their own pace in the afternoons in all badge areas at once....it is beautiful to witness and incredible to experience the range of interests the students have.
