Starting our morning inside we made extra space for release during our morning circle as many students were holding onto feelings they didn’t want to bring into their day. With big belly breaths, our Magic Hand, tapping and a bunch of jumping and shaking, we got it all out! Afterwards we had a fun dance party and then made granola bars. Thanks to Stella and Ethan for being great leaders! 👏🏼

After lunch we got out into the snow for some tobogganing! We currently have one sled which was shared amongst the group. The students had a great time and were very helpful to one another. We also ventured into the forest where the students played a game of hide and seek.

Upon returning to school we shared our findings and moments of the day, and then enjoyed warm tea with our granola bars. Recipe link below.

Friday

We started inside today and we all planned the day together while we snacked before circle. Lola wanted to go sledding, Ethan wanted to have a drawing contest, and Oakley wanted to go to the forest. We all chose to bake something yummy this morning, and we settled on a recipe for double chocolate chip cookies. We quartered our recipe and talked a lot about fractions and how to turn them into more pieces (fraction division). We also decided we would turn them into monsters and add candy eyeballs!!!

After we let go of everything we wanted and tapped and grounded deep into Mother Earth, we had our sit spot and shared our notices and animal cards. Once we were complete we headed to the kitchen to get to work! By quartering the recipe, we learned we would end up with two cookies each, so we decided to give one of our cookies away on our hike.

Before we left we used some coconut oil to wax the bottom of the sled so it would be super slippery for pulling and sledding. On our hike we got busy sledding down a steep hill and down a lower hill. Oakley saw the forest he wanted to see and we headed back when our faces were too cold. We also found lots of animal tracks! The mouse tracks looked the coolest, and we picked up our foraging items and used the sled to carry everything back.

We passed along three of our cookies to people we met on the trail. They were all very happy to receive the cookies. One person said no thank you, and we respected their choice and moved on.

Back at the school we ate, listened to music, had our drawing contest, completed our sharing board and everyone left for the weekend.

Have a great one!
