Apr 10-11 (OUTDOOR)

Today was a wet one! Students enjoyed the light snowfall this morning and we were able to complete circle outdoors. During free play a flurry came through, so we headed inside to do our sit spots/walking meditation. Afterwards we made space to activate our sacral chakras and create some spring decorations to add to our Spirit Day celebration on Wednesday.

After lunch we were able to get out for a hike over to the Spruce forest and were grateful for the trees’ shelter. Sharing board was sparse today but we also share our favourite parts of the day during this time, which allows students to reflect and connect. We ended the day sipping chocolate mint tea. ☕️

Friday

We started our day outside, watching the sun peak through the clouds during our morning circle. We read a classic story about Cottontail who wants to leave the nest, but Mommy bunny gives lessons how to avoid the Fox.

We came indoors for a snack and to make our paper seed balls.

After lunch and some free play, we set off for an epic adventure! Wandering through the park and mini forests presented opportunities to climb a great tree, visit Doug the fir tree, and do some Earthing. Oakley and Lola planted numerous pinecones in the hopes they will grow. We soaked up lots of Earth energy today.

While sitting and walking around with our boots off, we made a list of words that reflected what we felt, saw and encountered. During tea time, we worked on creating sentences connecting these words together. Ethan wrote a poem. Our Sharing Board included some interesting sticks, moss and pinecones. We all enjoyed the spikes on the Scotch Pine Cone and talked about what the spikes could help the tree accomplish. It was a great day.
